In honor of National Library Week and National Library Workers Day,
Freeholder Riletta Cream recognized two library employees with
proclamations. The Library management team selected Peg Feld and Chris
Entwisle to receive these awards in recognition of their exemplary
service and dedication to the Library.
Freeholder Cream presented the proclamations at the Pastoral Winds
performance at the Voorhees branch on April 4. The following are
nominations from their supervisors that outline their achievements:
 Peg
Feld began her career with the Camden County Library System in 1981 as a
part-time librarian at the Gloucester Township Branch. When the Bellmawr
Branch opened in 1997, Peg joined the staff as the full-time Children’s
Services librarian. Over the years Peg has developed children’s and
family programming at Bellmawr, including a weekly preschool story time,
toddler tales, afternoon crafts for elementary school kids and special
events throughout the year.
Her summer reading program has something happening almost every day from
late June through mid-August. Peg also has done story times and crafts
at two member libraries – Mt. Ephraim and Woodlynne – and visits the
Warwick
Nursery School once a month. Peg visits the Bellmawr schools each spring
to talk about the summer reading program.

Chris
Entwisle has been an invaluable, stable and motivating force in the
Circulation Department at the M. Allan Vogelson Regional Branch Library
for more than 30 years. Chris handles all tasks and situations well, be
it a patron issue, a staff issue or a technical situation. He is a well
respected leader and understands why we are here doing the jobs we do.
He has a demonstrated understanding of the Library’s mission, vision and
goals that is not only apparent from his actions, but has also had a
noticeable effect on many of those who work around him.

Students
in grades 5-8 at Woodglen School in Hunterdon County collected books to
donate to the Books For Kids Campaign. They wanted to make a difference
in the life of a child. The student council searched online for New
Jersey volunteer opportunities and came across the Camden County Library
System's Books For Kids site. They then saw a struggling family in
Camden on the television show Home Makeover and couldn't believe the
hard times some people face. They also had a hard time believing that
people were living such a hard life nearby in the state they live in.
Next, they advertised the collection, went through the books, and boxed
them up to deliver. They were very excited about the success of the
drive and they ended up delivering 15 boxes of books to benefit the
Camden County Division of Children's Services who distributed them to
needy children in the county over the holidays.
The kids hoped that
like the site said, "The number of books we collect is always matched by
a greater number of smiles from book recipients."
Thanks to teacher
Suzette Dilzer, who personally delivered the books to the library, and
her kids, and many other generous donors, this year we collected over
1,500 books for children in Camden County.

Constance Johnson shows off her achievement award during the annual
recognition tea for volunteers at the Camden County Library. Volunteers
play an important part in the Library system, performing a variety of
jobs ranging from shelving books, repairing books, assisting in library
programs, running book sales and directing visitors. The tea is one way
of saying thank you to all of our volunteers!
