Services for Senior Citizens |
Recommended Websites
The library offers a number of services for its patrons that
are of special benefit to senior citizens. Ask at your
local branch for more information about these services.
Closed Circuit Television Viewers
The Aladdin Ultra Closed Circuit Television Viewer is available at
all library branches. The viewer employs a video camera lens
to enlarge text from 3 to 30 times normal text size and allows
patrons to change background and font colors, or look at
photographs with ease.
Large Print Collection
All branches have a large print collection of books.
Search the large
print collection.
Audiobooks
For patrons with failing vision, a good alternative may be an
audiobook. The library offers abridged and unabridged
audiobooks, on audiotape or CD. We also have downloadable audiobooks that
can be listened to on a computer or a portable device.
Computers at the Library
The library offers beginner computer classes at the Voorhees and
South County branches.
In addition, the text on all computers may be enlarged for greater
visibility.
Assisted Listening Devices
The Voorhees Regional Branch is now a Regional Resource Center for
the New Jersey State Library for the Blind, Physically
Handicapped, Deaf and Hearing Impaired. At the Reader's
Services desk patrons can borrow Assisted Listening Devices that
can be used in small areas or large conference rooms. The
devices can be borrowed for up to one month at no charge.
Tax Help for Seniors
Every year at tax time the library offers free tax
help to senior citizens.
Library Programs
All the library branches offer a variety of programs for adults.
Check out our Adult Programs
to find one that's just right for you.
County Store
The County Store at the Echelon Mall is part of the Camden County
Library System. It offers a number of services to senior
citizens including will preparation workshops, vision screening
and nutrition counseling, flu shots, insurance counseling, and
more. See the
